The process of designing and installing
air-braking systems is highly specialised. Space is always
limited and it is essential that the air-braking system works
in unison with existing braking, electrical and hydraulic
systems. The sheer complexity of build options of any one
make of tractor means that any subsequent installation of
equipment, such as a front end loader; additional hydraulic
valves; or rear PTO driven equipment, requires exact specifications
to be determined at design stage.
The company constantly invests in new technology and training
within the design department, to enable Tractair designers
to keep pace with developments at OEMs. Tractair's design
engineers have a remit to work closely with design and product
engineers working for tractor manufacturers. Together they
develop fully integrated systems starting from the inception
of a new vehicle to production and beyond.
One of the most powerful CAD programmes used is Solid Works,
which is compatible with systems such as PRO-E. This allows
3D models and E drawings to be accessed and modified by
both parties, speeding up effective design. Solid Works
has a range of bolt-on programmes that can be used in various
applications, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for
analysing a multitude of variables to give calculated results
on the behaviour of components under stress.
OEMs welcome Tractair’s commitment to design, which
ensures that the air brake systems adapt to suit the ever-changing
range of tractor models.
