Tractors are constantly getting bigger and better and the size of trailers and their loads have grown proportionately. It is one thing to pull a heavily loaded trailer but quite another to stop both tractor and trailer quickly and safely.

Common sense dictates that relying on a tractor's braking ability alone to stop a loaded trailer is not a good idea. The vast majority of modern agricultural trailers are designed to brake using the relatively basic hydraulic system sourced from the tractor - a system that today, is quite often just not powerful enough.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards fitting trailers with air braking equipment - a system already widely in use by heavy goods vehicles.

Tractair has been at the forefront of developments in this field since its inception in 1995 and leads the way with the application of air braking systems to tractors, trailers and a variety of wider applications.

The systems can be fitted at Tractair's own site or at the manufacturing plant where, if volumes dictate, Tractair is able to take its expertise and fit the systems to the tractor at the assembly stage.

Tractair's design engineers have a remit to work closely with tractor manufacturers' design and product engineers from the inception of new product to production and beyond and are capable of undertaking full prototype and pre-production development of fully integrated systems on behalf of the manufacturer.
